At{\'e} 2011, as
florestal nativa. Das florestas brasileiras, a Mata Atl{\^a}ntica
{\'e} o bioma mais amea{\c{c}}ado pelas mudan{\c{c}}as no uso e
ocupa{\c{c}}{\~a}o da terra com mais de 70% do seu
territ{\'o}rio desflorestado.
Atl{\^a}ntica. Objetiva ainda, avaliar a distribui{\c{c}}{\~a}o
RCP 4.5.
No geral, a proje{\c{c}}{\~a}o
valor de biomassa potencial existente at{\'e} 2100,
Sudeste do Brasil apresentam maior {\'{\i}}ndice de perda de BAS
potencial m{\'a}xima, alcan{\c{c}}ando redu{\c{c}}{\~a}o de
at{\'e} 40% do valor potencial de BAS m{\'a}xima.
ABSTRACT: The increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases
(GHG), mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), has been the main cause of the
change in weather patterns across the planet. Up to 2011, global
CO2 emissions accumulated 675,000 ± 80,000 TgC, with the burning
of fossil fuels as the main anthropogenic emission cause, followed
by the decrease of carbon stocks due to loss of native forest
cover. Of all the Brazilian forests, the Atlantic Forest is the
most threatened by land use and land cover changes. The
deforestation represents more than 70% of its territory. In
addition to climate change, the anthropogenic pressure in the
Atlantic Forest is another factor that threaten the integrity of
the carbon stocks. Thus, this study sought to verify the effect of
climate change on the spatial distribution of the above-ground
biomass density (AGB) in fragments of the Atlantic Forest. Also,
it aimed to evaluate the behavior of the spatial distribution of
AGB from a regional perspective using the Campos do Jord{\~a}o
State Park (PECJ) as a case study. This work was divided into two
main steps. First, it was estimated the future AGB values for the
entire biome using the maximum entropy method, and considering the
climate change scenario RCP 4.5. Second, besides the
characterization of the PECJ landscape, it was performed a
sensitivity analysis of the current AGB to calculate the carbon
stock loss at the forest edges after the invasive alien species
management. The results showed that the modeling of the AGB
spatial distribution for the Atlantic Forest can be satisfactorily
performed using the maximum entropy method (AUC> 0.75 and p
<0.05). The maximum AGB estimate showed that the predictive models
pointed to a decrease in the area of occurrence for eight of the
nine modeled AGB classes. However, it also showed a significant
increase in the mean AGB value from 192.7 ± 39.8 Mg.ha-1 to 207.7
± 36.5 Mg.ha-1 for the biome in general. It has been estimated
that the Atlantic Forest has potential to store around 28,400 Tg
of AGB in the present period and 30,700 Tg for the future.
Nonetheless, considering the effect of fragmentation in the biome,
the total AGB value may have been reduced by 89% until the present
period. In general, the projection for 2100 pointed out that 52.7%
of the biome could have an AGB increase up to 20% comparing to the
current AGB. This increase is mostly concentrated in the southern
region of the country. In contrast, the regions between the
Northeast and the Southeast of Brazil have a higher rate of AGB
loss, reaching up to 40% of decrease. Concerning the PECJ, the
results showed that the loss of carbon stock may be related to the
invasive alien species withdrawal. Finally, it was concluded that
even though climate change varies latitudinally, AGB tends to
increase in the Atlantic Forest.",
